I’m broke. Well not broke broke…what I mean is, I am in need of managing my funds for optimal use while saving for a rainy day. Here’s an example. I needed some maintenance work done to my vehicle before the winter storms hit the northeast. While the money was in the bank, I could either pay the dealership service department parts plus labor (approximately $1,500) or consult a friend of the family who could advise my father on repairs at a discounted rate (approximately $250). Hmmm…I think you know the answer! I was able to utilize my resources, save over 83% and virtually leave my savings account untouched.

DETERMINATION, DEDICATION AND DESIRE
Ring…ring…!!!
Just as I was contemplating jumping, she called. Hello! Here’s the scene: Leaky kitchen ceiling. Sheer anger from having to buy a $200 replacement or my electronically-dead car key (after having locked me out for the last time). Cable representative eaving me on hold for 40 minutes. Frozen laptop with extensive interview notes. At that very moment I had to collect myself while she, Dominique Dawes aka Awesome Dawesome, was on the other end of the line. Four things come to mind including, but not limited to, when I think of Miss Dawes – prompt, poised, pretty and petite. Prompt because I scheduled an 11 o’clock interview through her manager and she called at 10:54am. Poised because she’s been blessed with a unique talent to compete as an Olympic-winning gymnast, an articulate motivational speaker and role model. Pretty, have you seen her recently? If not, check out this issue’s cover. Petite because of her pint-sized 5-feet-2-inch frame.
